Scrapbooking 2012

This layout is the one done for Scrapbuddies January Crop. Bo Bunny Cambridge papers, Memory box dies for the border and swirl. Hidden jounalling in the scroll.

I started this last October, it was suppose to be Quick says Janet, I was making it all day and then didn't finish.
So two and half months later I decided to finish it but could find the bits for the snowmen eventually an hour later I found them obviously in a safe place.
The stripey paper was brought a Ally Pally, the rest is Bazzill.

Having made my Sister a Mini Book of her daughters wedding I've decided to make a book for myself using the same format as my Vegas book but rather than sticking to one type of papers and using various ones.

Adam 18th

Well it took some time to resize the other secret project I made before Christmas in fact it was in the middle of making Christmas cards. This time is for my Nephew Adams 18th Birthday, he is the youngest of my nieces and nephews to reach his coming of age, the rest of the other little ones in the family have the word Great in front of them.
The papers are Basic Grey Oliver, the cogs are a Tim Holtz sizzix die and the tickets I think are Autumn Leaves stamps but I've used the Whimsey die which has you can see fits perfectly.

Most of this years Scrapbooking has been completing my Vegas Book and started the Wedding Album of Lou's Wedding.
Some individual pages I've made have been for the Sketch Challenge at Scrapbuddies.

These first three have been made using Pagemaps

I found a sketch on a blog called Scraplogy (think thats how its spelt) love it so much and knew it would be perfect for this pic of my Niece and her daughter its not the best photo and it was taken on the zoom setting but it speaks so much of the love.
The papers are Crate Paper and the flowers are prima.

This just didn't work out that well at all spent much of time moving stuff and adding stuff till it was a case of put down the embellishment and stand away from the layout.

Vegas

The plan is to scrapbooking in various sizes, I have an America Crafts Ring Scrapbook. I've worked out I have sleeves for 6 by 6, 8 by 8, 81/2 by 11, 12 by 12 and 6 by 12. I hope this would make it more interesting.
I'm trying use Crate Paper Restoration, which I brought 2 sets to make sure I had enough. I only choose it because it has playing cards on! It was a big mistake cos I so don't do grungy and it certainly challenging me.

The family was so annoyed with me when I made then walk to this sign, just for a photo!

DS said it was important to add photos of ourselves to personalise our visit, otherwise they could be any photos of the web. Hubby not impressed!

DS was paying for the hotels and he booked us in the Bellagio, not only did we have a suite, it had a view of the fountains.

The most expensive scrapbook page its the front page of the souvenir brochure.

The Venetian pages are 8 by 8 layouts.

Now I start the LA pages for some reason not so many photos so I can see the end in sight.

It didn't seem right to photo this at Santa Monica Pier but then again it didn't seem right to just forget it. The same reason for scrapbooking they needed to be remembered.

Some layouts I make are singles but when you put them in the album they work well together.

I'm running out of ideas so going for CAS

So the last page and one awful picture but it was important to scrap.
Next time I'm choosing paper I know I love not because I sheet of it was playing cards.

The Wedding

Last year I made a mini-book for my Sis of her daughters wedding, the book was inspired with the fab wrought iron gates on acetate on the front of the book. Must remember to remove protective cover first before photo-ing.
I think the papers are My Minds Eye but I only discovered this photos while tidy up files on my PC that why they're a year old.
And I still haven't made myself a book of my niece's wedding.

I ran out stream by the time of 19th Prompt but I do still have them and I will finish this project eventually, its next on the agenda after I scrap some of the 1000 pics of Vegas/LA.
I share the same Milestone birthday this year as Scrapdolly who is doing a year long project and invited other scrappers to join her. I also missed doing the A-Z last year so 52 in 10 sounded ideal.
I will adding each new page on this post but you will have to scroll down to see the lastest on because I will be trying to keep the post in order from Start to the End. I will also show the journalling which in some cases might be hidden.

50th Surprise Birthday

Here's Pilar book, I pretty sure that the pages are not quite in sync since I alternate the colours of the pages. I've used Cosmo Cricket Happily Ever After throught out the book and most of the embellishments are punches or die cuts.
The pages are 8inches square and I used a Bind it all.

Elliott's First Year

My Niece sent me a picture of her new son every month of his first year and it seemed a shame not to use them and I decide it would make a nice gift.
So with the idea of using the months has a guide for his first year I made a 8 by 8 album. I brought an American Crafts D ring album which I'm going to buy from now on cos its so much easier than the post albums and there is plenty of room for my Niece to continue the album for his second year.
Papers are Crate Paper and I've lost the which ones but in the back of my mind I think they maybe Sweet Branch.

Favourite Desinations

My first CJ on UK has finally come home and its not been without drama but it ended on a high note with two of our group expecting new additions to their families in September.

My theme was Favourite Destination and I was amazed at the different places and even the reasons which showed an insight of the person making the entry.

This was mine Tossa de Mar on the Costa Brava.

These are my entries for the above CJ. The one above is for Home Sweet Home, I was really pleased how it turned out, sometimes you have an idea and it just doesn't work out.

This one was for Smile its a beautiful world, I used photos out of my own garden and of the two pubs we go too.

My favourite place, I had already used Tossa de Mar so what would be the next place that I couldn't live with out, that would be my craft room. The pictures were taken when it was tidy a rare thing.

I really struggled with an idea for this Love and Hate CJ and even when I got the idea it still was a problem to get the circles central. The Papers are Crate papers.

This CJ was the one that probably worried me the most All Things Gothic, in the end I decided that it was certain colours that together made you think Gothic, so I used Black (obviously) with the red, purple and a touch of gold. The teardrops are glossy aceents I thought they looked like blood and I found the shaped wings on google and used the shaped for a template. The pics I found online too, DD was impressed with these pages.

I had to show my Gothic angel tag.

I'm not sure you would call all the stash and stamps that I buy and in the case of stamps which I have a lot that I've not used a Collection. I do have a few bits of Nao that I've collected the last few years but even that is now quite expensive. I've used my favourite BG Lily kate.

I mean't to show the front cover of this Chocolate recipe CJ cos its truly amazing, it looks just like a chocolate bar. I don't actually cook much these days, but in the days I did I often made various flavours of small fairy cakes, today we call them cupcakes. I asked my sis to make some using my recipe so I could photo them but she declined, you just can't get the help these days, so I borrowed the cocoa powder out of her larder and photo that instead.

Almost everyone I had chosen their children or family for this Special Moments CJ, these two are my Special Moments and between them have filled my life with numerous special moments and rather than making it too soppy which isn't my style, I've added a touch of humour.

When I received the Nursery Rhymes CJ it was like OMG what on earth can I do in keeping with the absolutely wonderful pages that had been done. I had to show my Sis and Nikki both thought it was wonderful and glad it was me and not them that had to complete it. With the help on Sis and the fact she could recite far too many nursery rhymes. I decide on See Saw because one I could have a moving part and I could use my cute Whiff of Joy stamps, ( didn't use Magnolias cos they have no mouths and could be scary). The patterned paper is BG.

I have throughly enjoyed the challenge each month, so much so I've joined another CJ this time Music and Lyrics is the theme and I've choosen Remember the 70s.>

Jill's Brag Book

I now have saved loads of photos of Jill my SIL and her family, knowing that I love making these books I thought I would make one for Jill. The papers are I think Delight by Yellow Bicycle and various embellishments from my Stash. The book is made from the class on a cyber crop UKS called a Ribbon-N-Roll, hope the link works.

The thing I love about these books is that its made with cardstock with an exception of BG magnet for the clasp but you can use ribbon and bow to close the book if you don't have a magnet.

A-Z of Me

Finally my year long project is finish, photographed and blogged. I've thoroughly enjoy this challenge and I really missed doing this but I don't think I would be able to keep it up without the prompts from Its a Creative World blog.

Underneath the chipboard is some journalling it reads

My Mum was always knitting , we were very poor when I was little and Mum used to buy old woolies from jumble sales and reknit them. My favourite jumper was mad with 3 jumble jumpers.

My sister sews, her own clothes and her childrens.

I knitted from the age of 11 till arthritis stopped me in 1997, my sister convinced my husband that cross-stitch was cheaper than reading books. She lied. Not only do I cross-stitch this crossed over to cardmaking. In 2005 my sister convinced me to make a Scrapbook for Mum, so now I Scrapbook too.

If you unwrap the tombstone you will find some more journalling it reads;

Embarrassing thats what my grown up kids say about me. But really isn't it called payback time. Remember the terrible twos when you're in the middle of the supermarket or a shopping centre and you're gorgeous daughter decides to have a tantrum can you believe someone that beautiful can make such a noise. How about when you're bright son overhears a conversation and promptly lets the cat out of the bag to the very person you wanted it kept from. Bringing up children meant very often wanting the floor to open up and swallow you whole. Embarrassing who me!!!!

And if you pull that tag there's yet more journalling;
When I first started scrapbooking I never knew what a sociable hobby it was. When my sister and I went Scrapcamp we met total strangers who became firm friends and when we decided to go to SC2 my sis found Valelady on UKS forum who was going too and my siter invited her to house for coffee. I told my sis you can't invite a complete stranger to you home, you need to meet in a public place. So it was decided to meet at Bagshot Lea. Little did we know Valeladys's family were really worried for her to meet strangers off the Internet. We didn't have to worry though we recognised Valelady from classes we took at Craft&Co. Poor Nikki had a similar experience and now we're firm scrapbuddies. Which leads to a crop that Valelady, JPDuck and FairyKaren arranges once a month and yet more friends.

Don't panic I've notice that this breed should be bred and I have changed this but obviously didn't photo it again, this post has cause me a bit of headache so I'm not going to change it so imagine the extra e just isn't there!

This is hubby so you know there will be journalling somewhere.

I couldn't do a book of me without including John somewhere. We've been together for 32 years. He is my rock, my other half and maybe when we met I was probably too young to make a huge decision like marriage but it was the right one I've never regretted us being together.

On the tags there's some journalling;

There's nothing like the feeling when they first hand over the tiny miracle of your child and I was lucky enough to experience the joy twice.

Being a Mum is hard and you can only do your best and I hope my children understand that my best wasn't always right but at least I tried.

Underneath the flap is journal ling it reads;

Music has played an important part of my life since I was a little girl growing up with a house full of teenagers in the sixties to a Bay City Rollers fan and adoring David Essex. Music also played a large part of my childrens life music constantly played ,first records, cassettes, the cd to finally i pods.

And its true when my kids were scrabbling, I banned electric and only I could play my music so that would be Celine Dion then.

I can't start the day without a cuppa of tea. Not too much milk and no sugar with nice rosie lee colour.

Since making this journal you add another boy to the group of children, that make 6 Grandkids for my youngest brother.

I thoroughly enjoy making this journal and I'm already missing doing something like this but without the prompt each fortnight from Its a Creative World blog I'm not sure if I would keep it up.

Forty Years in the Making

At last i can show the secret project that I've been doing since the begining of December, well alright its a couple days early but I wasn't convinced blogger would let me upload this many photos at one time. I'm not linking this blog on my daily blog until the actual date which is Monday. So its my nephew's forty birthday, my goodness where has the time gone, Jill his Mum asked me to make this Scrapbook for him. I had loads of photos so really the idea was to use lots of the photos even the rubbish ones and to keep reasonable simple its for a man after all.

Papers are Scenic Route and my Cricut was a life saver for all the titles, I think I only used two alphabets Base Camp and Storybook.

My last bit of Cosmo Cricket Dutch Girls the corner swirls using the Cricut.

Patterned paper Scenic Route again the pinwheel again using the Cricut

Not sure this time of the papers could be Kaiser or Fancy Pants, used American Crafts Thickers for the title.

Papers are My Minds Eye but not sure which collection brought quite a few from MJ at Every Moment Matters because the colours were ideal for toddlers like Jake pages.

Love my threading water Fiskars punch will have to buy another soon because this one must be nearly worn out.

Simon Continued

Not sure of these papers again could be Fancy pants and the gold colour paper is a different manufacture.

Whoops another couple of sheets of paper that I'm not sure of, the bottle caps are to hide some rubbish rub ons that didn't work. No-one said I was perfect.

This is was so simple the paper is write out my WMR, I added some brads and some glossy accents to give it a bit more dimension.

Yes again I've used Scenic Route papers, lets be honest they're great for fellas.

Now I'm pretty sure these papers are again My Minds Eye.

If you been scrapbooking a while you would recognise the K & Company Daisy patterned paper which I've had so LONG but it was ideal because in Jill's bouquet are white daisies, and the daisy embellishment were made with punches.

Do you recognise the Martha Stewart doily punch another one that will be worn out soon.

I love this pic of Jill it was taken at Damien's (another nephew) Wedding, the branch embellishment is another from the Cricut using the Storybook cartridge was that a good buy or what.

Almost embarrassed to say but I've used Scenic Route papers again.

Oh and agin the border punch is an old Fiskars one that I borrowed off of Sis.

The pic with the couples are all taken at Damien's wedding and the group one was taken at Carla's Wedding.

Sisters wouldn't fit but with a bit stylish cheating got it to fit, again no idea of the papers .

Copied the way I did the Sister's title to match the other side.

When Jill brought the photo she told me she had loads of Simon in the armchair tradional at Christmas, I made her give them too me and this double layout was born.

I didn't need to do much here the photos speak for themselves.

I used my new corner fiskars punch for this one and I struggled to get a pic of Amanda and Kevin but luckily I had one with Carla on, sorry Carla I chopped you off.

Did this cause a heated discussion Sis said Simon knew he was Uncle so why put Uncle Simon so I told her to give me another Title. Again I've used My Minds Eye which work brilliantly with rug rats.

These two pages were quite hard, how can houses be cute and the friends were a mix bag of colours.

See the same problem not enough room for the title, another trick to get it to fit. I believe its My Minds Eye again.

Underneath the pic I've printed out the details how this taxi was restored, I don't believe Simon still has this Taxi.

Did you notice the child labour and that a man is actual on his hands and knees hoovering. The papers are Basic Grey and could be Pebbles.

No idea of the papers again and once I put Birthdays on the page I couldn't see what else I could do without making it too busy. The ages were put on because Jill had put the year or how old Simon was on the back of the photo.

This photo was taken in December by Amanda and e-mailed to me so is probably the latest pic of Simon.

I still had photos left that i felt were really nice ones that didn't fit on the other layouts, I especially love my brothers sunglasses, I wonder if he's kept them they probably coming back into fashion.
